Grammar: Sentences Framing


1.

The adjectives inferior, superior, senior, junior, prior etc. take the preposition to, not than. E.g.

She always felt inferior to her younger sister.
This material is superior to that.


2.  It was he who came running into the classroom.

3.The capital of Yemen is situated 2190 meters above the sea level.

4.The captain along with his team is practicing very hard for the forthcoming matches.

5. Supposing it rains, what shall we do?


6.When two or more than two subjects are joined by 'Either,' or 'Neither, nor', the verb agrees with the subject nearest to it.

Either Nemmu or Mennu is in the wrong; both can certainly never be.

7. None is used in reference for more than two. In reference to two 'neither' is used.

e.g.

Neither of the two girls who were present appeared to be inclined to listen to sane advice.

8.  In a comparative degree THAN is used. Also, the term of comparison must exclude the things compared by use of OTHER.

e.g.

Everyone knows that the leopard is faster than any other animal.
